Like any great mountain community, Truckee and North Lake Tahoe have a flourishing craft brewing scene. We have several outstanding local breweries with multiple locations to visit. Our skilled local brewers craft lagers, ales, sours, porters, stouts, and everything in between, including seasonals and barrel-aged brews.
Truckee’s first craft brewery, opened in 2007 by husband-and-wife team Andy and Alicia Barr, FiftyFifty Brewing Co.’s Truckee Pub & Pilot Brewery is on Old Brockway Road at The Rock. The pub serves all the year-round and seasonal brews, plus a great dining menu of pub-inspired plates and local favorites.
Tahoe National Brewing Co. was founded in Tahoe City in 2020, tucked in behind the Tahoe City Safeway on the lake. In addition to their brews, they offer cocktails, wine, and a rotating food menu. Classic deep-dish pizza is available Monday – Wednesday and their full menu is offered Thursday – Sunday.
Alibi Ale Works was founded in 2014 by Kevin Drake and Rich Romo. The production brewery and taproom are in Incline Village. In 2017, Alibi opened the Truckee Public House in downtown Truckee. The Public House features 24 taps, frequent live music, and a small but high-quality food menu.
Truckee Brewing Company was opened in May of 2018 by owner Dustin Hurley and master brewer Adam Lundy. Located on Pioneer Trail near downtown Truckee, the brewery has 10 beers on tap and offers gourmet pretzel rolls and Stromboli from neighboring Sierra Bakehouse. In 2022, they opened a full-service Kitchen & Tap House near the Truckee Airport.
Donner Creek Brewing is located on Deerfield Drive in Truckee. This laid-back spot usually offers six or seven in-house brews on tap alongside a few other local favorites and a large selection of beers and wines in can/bottle available to enjoy onsite or to go. A variety of gourmet grilled cheese panini sandwiches are also available.
Founded in 2019 and located within the Tahoe National Forest, The Good Wolf crafts hop forward in forest-themed beers. Off the beaten path and tucked away next to a forest grove in a nondescript warehouse in Truckee. Using ingredients such as apples, juniper berries, and even mushrooms, The Good Wolf offers up some very interesting and unique brews.
Even if you can’t make it to any of our excellent craft breweries, most have regional distribution or can be found in many local restaurants and bars. Cheers!
