The Donner Summit communities include Norden, Soda Springs, Serene Lakes, Pla Vada, Kingvale, and Cisco Grove. Each of these areas is distinctive, but all share easy access to Boreal, Royal Gorge, Donner Ski Ranch, and Sugarbowl ski resorts. Due to the elevation, the Donner Summit usually received higher snowfall than Truckee.
